Megan Mericle (Meg La Mer) is a writer, researcher, artist, communications professional and budding apprentice herbalist and small-scale organic agriculture enthusiast who lives and works in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal. Megan is currently participating in the Community Herbalist Diploma Program with École Setsuko in Dorval and Montréal, Québec. In 2024 she joyfully completed the City Herbal Apprenticeship Program with the Concordia Greenhouse Project at the Loyola campus herbal garden and food forest, and the Urban Agriculture Apprenticeship Program with Coop CultivAction in Senneville, Québec with whom they will study with again for their Urban Foraging Course. Megan est un membre du jardin collectif du Parc des Gorilles de Petite-Italie/Little Italy (Marconi-Alexandra). In 2007 Megan graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art, with a minor in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Lethbridge, Alberta. In 2013 they earned a Master of Arts degree in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University, Montréal.

From 2009 to 2015, Mericle worked as a photographer mainly in music and live performance documentation at various festivals and for bands of friends. From 2013 to 2020 they worked as a grant writer, researcher, web designer, and studio and administrative assistant (and more) for artists including Nadia Myre, Michael Flomen, Nadine Faraj, and others. They hold significant experience in the field of communications, research, editing and outreach, and refined their skills in negotiations, event and volunteer coordination, archiving, collections and digital record management, and in programming and strategic planning. Mericle’s experiences at the Galt Museum & Archives, the Southern Alberta Art Gallery and the Concordia Greenhouse Project have deepened their knowledge of and capacity to strategically support and serve non-profits and a range of community-led projects.

Megan has also served as Secretary on the Board of Directors at the non-profit articule, artist-run centre in Montréal from 2017-2018. From 2014-2020 and 2024 to the present they have volunteered delivering Meals-on-Wheels and providing occasional photography services for Santropol Roulant, an organization that combats food insecurity.
